A glorious Autumn morning for our short trip to Glan-yr-Afon Park for one of our most highly anticipated fixtures of the season against local rivals Blackwood! A local derby that never fails to stir the emotions and today was no exception!!
A very physical match with great ball handling, attacking and defensive skills displayed by both teams. Blackwood scored the first and only try of the first half after finding a hole in the Warriors' defence resulting in a half time score of 5-0.
The second half was a similar story to the first with another breakaway try for Blackwood. The Warriors weren't able to respond despite some nail-biting attacking play so the final score remained at 10-0.
A great game of rugby played with the usual passion you would expect of a local derby! A few injuries sustained during the game though - Durny and Dan recovered well but Callum B (aka Steve!) has sustained a broken wrist on his first game back after recovering from a broken rib so will no doubt be out of action for the next couple of months. Wishing you a speedy recovery Steve from all the Warrior family!
Man of the Match - as voted by the supporters: Mason Parfitt, aka Chopper!! Outstanding defensive play throughout with plenty of fearless tackles 'chopping' down the opposition when it mattered most! Well done Mason!! 🏅👍
