NRFC Honour Kenny Waters with Fundraising for MND

In the last few months news has filtered through to us at the Welfare Ground that our former Hooker, Kenny Waters, has unfortunately, been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

Kenny was an integral part of the great Newbridge teams during the late 80's and early 90's and was honoured with international selection as part of Wales' World Cup Squad in the 1991 tournament.

Following receipt of this dismal news, the Club has embarked upon a fundraising mission as a tribute to Kenny and his fight against such an awful disease.

In meeting with Kenny at the Clubhouse recently Ken said "I feel very humbled there are people out there who wish to support me and help raise funds to highlight the horrible disease." He then continued by saying "Raising funds for the South East Wales branch of the MND Association is really important to me as it means that the money raised will stay in Wales and help the local branch as they don't even have their own facility at present."

Following our meeting with Kenny, the Club has setup an event called "Life as a Hooker!" which will be held at the Clubhouse on Thursday 24th January and will feature many familiar faces that have featured in the number 2 shirt for Wales and we extremely grateful to all that will be attending the event.

In conjunction to the event on 24th January, the Club has also setup a JustGiving page that has a target of raising £2,000.
