As the clocks went back, Newbridge U9's continue to go forward.

For various reasons, we were thin on the ground today, but that didn’t stop the lads from putting in a mammoth performance against a very, very physical Beddau side who had players in abundance. The pitch was undulating and very heavy, so it didn’t suit the backs. However, the forwards in particular, Charlie, Oliver and Jake fronted up and wore Beddau down. In the first half it was try for try with Mason grabbing 3 tries to Beddau’s 3 tries.

The second half, although not as many tries as the first, was still interesting to say the least. Beddau were continually penalised by their own ref for high tackles and at one point Newbridge nearly walked off the pitch. The ref had a stern word with Beddau and rightly so. Ollie Penny, showing physical marks on his neck was pumped up again and as Beddau broke away he charged after them to make a try saving tackle. As Newbridge regained the ball, Ellis grabbed hold of it and scored a great try. Beddau soon came back at them to equal the score at four a piece. In the final moments, as Newbridge were pressing and looked to clinch the victory with 3 tackles remaining the ref blew full time.

Next up was Cambrian. The lads seemed a bit more at ease in this game, but it was by no means straight forward. Cambrian were an attacking team and had tries in them. Rio and Logan tackled well and Logan was unlucky not to have scored. Jake and Charlie had some good runs and Big Charlie who is hard to stop when in his stride, was later rewarded with a try. However, the 3 musketeers - Mason (1), Ellis (2) and Ollie (2) grabbed five between them to put a ‘W’ back on the board.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Mason Thomas
